Hotel Review in Avignon, France – Hotel de I’Horloge

Hotel de l’Horloge

Since we were in Southern France, we decided to spend 2 nights staying at Avignon as there are a few landmarks nearby and the historical center of Avignon is a UNESCO world heritage. It is a beautiful city with some great restaurants. The old city is surrounded by a medieval wall which gives it an added ancient vibe about the city.

Room rate

It costs us about US$140 per night (including tax) for their traditional room. Breakfast is not included. It should be the off-peak rate as we missed the annual Festival d’Avignon in July. I made the booking through and I got upgraded to the next room category as part of the members’ benefit. I can’t figure out what room type I got upgraded to and I can’t tell what is the difference of the room I booked and the room we got.

The location

It is located at the heart of Avignon and within 10mins walk to the major landmarks such as Palais des Papes and Pont d’Avignon. It is in a very convenient location to explore Avignon. However, there is no parking space provided by the hotel and it took us a while to find a parking spot on the street. It was definitely one of Mr Map’s hectic moments during our trip. There are actually plenty of car parks nearby, though street parking is much cheaper and convenient. On the first day we circled around in circles for a while, yet every other time we were able to find street parking rather easily.

The room

I didn’t take many photos of the hotel room and you can find more photos from the hotel’s official website. The room is simple and cozy. It is good enough for a short stay.

The complimentary toiletries provided by the hotel.

It is a good hotel for a short stay in a prime location. If you are coming here during the peak season, it would be best to find a hotel that provides parking spots and not too far from the Avignon city centre.
